Cooper Raleigh is ready for his big surgery today and so is his family. Cooper's mom Sherry reports that he is still doing amazingly well. The family is so happy that he will finally have freedom from the wires that are attached to his head (the one thing that has kept him in bed for 26 days). The doctors are impressed that he has been able to tolerate the wires for so long and have said in most patients this would not have been an option. Surgery on his brain is planned for 12:00 noon today and should take 4 to 6 hours. They expect that Cooper will come out of surgery and be able to talk. He will be on morphine for pain and will be groggy for some time. He will spend 24 hours in intensive care then go back to a regular room. They will have to see how his right-side is functioning before the family will have an idea of how much time he will need to be in the hospital after surgery. They say he will have flu like symptoms for several weeks and may even start napping again. Please pray for the success of this surgery and for freedom from the many daily seizures that Cooper has had for some time now.
