Please be in prayer for Mabel who is in her 90s and suffered a severe fall and was med-flighted to a crisis center. She has family out of state, so please pray for her healing and comfort.
Please be in prayer for a young woman who is going through the heart break of a recent break up. She is deeply hurt and feels she is to blame that the young man is now experimenting with drugs. She feels that if she had tried harder in their relationship, they would be together and he would not be involved with the people he is hanging out with and taking drugs. Both need our prayers for direction, comfort and healing.
Below is a prayer request from Karen & Chris Wagnon's nephew Greg and his wife Corinne and their two young boys, who are missionaries in Thailand: "We want to thank you, all of you who faithfully pray for us. You pray for our family, our boys, our life here, our safety, our ministry, the Tai Yuan, and whatever else God puts on your hearts. We are so grateful. We just got back from a very restful time in Chiang Mai. Thank you all for praying that the time spent on vacation would be refreshing because it was. Unfortunately, every time we are in Chiang Mai at least ½ of the family gets sick. This time it was Jonesy who got bronchitis and the doctor said if we waited another day it would have been pneumonia. Thankfully we put him on antibiotics and thus stopped the downward spiral to pneumonia. However, Rauby caught the bug and then he too became a slobbering mess of snot and drool. Then Corinne caught the bug with less drool and we won’t mention the snot. So on our last day there we stopped by at our main office before heading back and a friend of ours pulled me into her office and sat me down. I was not expecting this. She told me that she has never known a family that got sick as often and as badly as ours. She was very concerned that since moving up to the North our family has had sickness pretty much every other month. It’s all little stuff with some big stuff thrown in here and there but she said that working on the field and with these people (she used to be in Chiang Rai and working with N.Thai) every little sickness is a big deal because it takes so long to get over it. And with the distraction of sickness often ministry and family life is a struggle. We been feeling recently like we’re only just surviving here and not living the abundant life that is promised in John. And it is definitely not God’s fault we’re in survival mode, and it’s really not a matter of fault or blame. Our friend urged us to look beyond the physical realm and take a hard look at what “the enemy’s” role in all of this is. I was pretty skeptical at blaming sickness on Satan. I’m not and my’s family’s not as Righteous as Job so I wasn’t thinking a heavenly game of loyalty is at stake. (By the way we are totally loyal to Christ.) But I was thinking and praying through the whole idea of what is at stake if we’resick, distracted, not in a state of wholeness? The Kingdom. The Glory of god. Satan is concerned greatly about that. There is a huge game of loyalty in that. My friend asked me to consider all this sickness in our family keeps us from wholly building the kingdom. This is EXACTLY what Satan wants. For our struggle is not against Flesh and Blood, but against rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Eph 6:12. Satan and his sneaky, tricky, mean followers will do anything to thwart the followers of Christ. For our family I truly believe that he uses sickness and other physical ailments to keep us from doing what God has planned for us. So we’ve decided we don’t want this anymore. We’re asking for a call of prayer, very specific to claim the rightful authority we have as believers in Christ. Spiritual authority is not a tug of war on a horizontal plane; it’s a vertical chain of command. Jesus Christ has all authority in heaven and on earth (Matt.28:18) He has given His authority and power to us His servants to be exercised in His Name (luke 10:17); we’re underneath Him. And Satan and his followers? They’re at the bottom, subject to the authority Christ has invested in us. We ask you to pray in the perfect, powerful name of Jesus Christ, who was raised from death and now seated at the right hand of God, who has been given all power and authority in heaven and on earth to bind the work of Satan and his followers In the lives of Greg, Corinne, Jutus & Asher Hortman. That this family will be free from any spiritually induced sickness. Pray that the Hortmans will rely solely on Christ and live in the same power that raised Christ from the dead. We claim the promise that where two or more are gathered in Christ’s name he will be there also. I don’t think physical nearness is needed. Please join us in praying in Christ’s name for freedom from spiritually induced sickness so that the glory of God may shown. Thanks for your prayers and your love. Corinne & Greg"
Please join us in praying for those who have already or may soon be in the path of Hurricane Gustav. Pray that those who are in the path of the hurricane will get out of harms way safely before this storm hits. Pray also for the days following the storm that if possible, clean up and damage would be kept at a minimum.
Pray for the teenager who is struggling with his faith.
Prayers are requested by a mother for her children's finances, for her grandchildren who have medical problems and for her own health.
Prayers of praise for the teacher who is very pleased with the class of students she received this year which is a huge blessing after last year's experience
Barbara Hayes requests prayers for her mom and her family. Barbara's mom's youngest brother who is 71 had a massive stroke on August 20th and died. About the same time as the brother died, Barbara's mom's sister was told that she may have cancer. She has had many tests run to see what is going on and is still awaiting testing results. Please especially pray for Barbara's mom who is feeling very overwhelmed at the recent health news of both of her siblings. Pray for peace and comfort that only God can provide during a difficult time like this.
