Update on Denise Forshey's sister-in-law who fell down several steps while on vacation in North Carolina. Robin is currently on a ventilator. Immediately after the injury she was able to breathe on her own, however, as the swelling with the spinal cord progressed, her breathing worsened. She is unable to feel or move anything below the chest. She is heavily sedated while on the ventilator. She has a fracture between cervical 3 and cervical 4. As of the last report from the doctor, she will have permanent damage to her cord. The extent of this permanent damage is not known at this time. Please continue to pray for Robin's recovery from this serious fall. Pray that she will be healed enough soon so that she can be moved back to her home in Ohio. Pray also for some of her family members who are are traveling to be near her.
Prayers for the family of Rev. Bruce Lecates, a retired minister of the Chesapeake District and Director of Denton Family Camp for a number of years. Rev. Lecates passed away at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury yesterday.
Continued prayers for Nancy Batten. She was to move to St. Mary's Nursing Center today for physical therapy; however, she has developed a fever and they are not sure if this is an infection or contaminate. Her white cell count is normal. Prayers that it is not an infection. She will stay at Andrews until they know for sure. Otherwise, she is doing very well and is looking forward to getting on with her physical therapy. She and all of her family thank everyone for keeping her in prayer.
Jeff & Krystal Threet found out this past Saturday morning that Krystal's father had a "bleeding stroke" and was in critical condition at a local hospital in Victoria, TX. The stroke occurred in his brain stem and is inoperable. They apparently had to induce a coma and all tests indicate, at this point, that he is technically brain dead. We flew Krystal out early Sunday morning to go be with him. Please join the Threets in prayer that the Holy Spirit will give strength and comfort to Krystal and her family while they cope with this situation, and to ask the Holy Spirit to give Krystal the words to say to her father to cause him to accept Christ as his Savior. Though she's been forced to come to terms that he's mostly gone, she has asked us to pray that God will still heal him with a full recovery, but if His will is to not, to relieve her father of any pain. Her intent right now is to help him get his soul right with God. Her dad may or may not hear her, but we know that God does, and we are praying that He will somehow provide understanding to him.
The family is meeting with the doctor tonight at 7:00 PM Central time to determine the next course of action, most likely taking him off of life support.
