UPDATE FROM SARAH POYTHRESS FROM GUATEMALA:
"Praise the Lord! The rains stopped this morning. Forecast to begin again this afternoon but at least for a few hours people can get out and try to clear away the volcano ash/black sand from drains and roof tops. Pastor Carlos has the men of Iglesia Adonai cleaing the mud and muck out of the building and from the roof top. We are praying for their safety. I drove Delmi to market this morning and seeing all the black sand and people struggilng to clean it really touched me. It is hard to understand why but we just keep trusting God and praying for His will and protective hand. Luis has been on one roof here at Papi's house for over 3 hours trying to get it cleared of the sand. The stuff is so heavy it is incredible. He has to use a large kitchen spoon because the drain is too little for a shovel. It is tedious work. Still a lot to be done. Team headed back to City. Tony found pickup trucks to drive them from Panajachel to Solola. Buses cannot get around mudslides. We are praying for their safety. Airport still closed; hopeful if rains do not come back so heavily, runways can be cleared more quickly. Thank you for all your prayers; please keep praying. God bless you all."
